In 2007, 2008 the residing Burmese monk moved out, along with the relics inside the stupa.  All the statues were either donated to temples or destroyed by rain. The backyard has transformed many times since I lived there.  I put up a gazebo, later on, that turned into my room.  The Bodhi tree still grows strong, home to noisy birds.  My mother’s spiritual journey continues without her desire for a place of worship.  Mine has always been an inward one.  Yet, the stupa, the backyard, the way-too-many trees play the background part of our lives and the people who live here for the moment.
